Lookout Mountain

On Friday, we went to Lookout Mountain. It is the home of the Buffalo Bill grave site. The elevation was 7400 ft. and we found that there was a little bit of difference between the breathing air. LOL! We saw a lot of mountain bikers and people climbing the cliffs on the way up. We stopped and ate in Golden, Colorado and that is also were the COORS brewery is located. And its not a trip if you don't stop along the way and let Trent throw rocks into the water:~)

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It was just so peaceful there! I was telling Dan that it is so weird that when we talk about vacation, the first thing I think of is the beach!! Not anymore!

Dan decided we needed to drive up the dirt road, which we were about 1 foot from the cliff of the mountain, with no guardrail, and no way to turn around. I found the whole meaning to hairpin turns! Very scary at times! Then we actually hiked up one mountain and Trent was so tired, he actually laid down!! We ate lunch at the top and then headed back down to reality.

The way down was much faster because it was a paved two lane road. We stopped several times to look at the lookouts and see wildlife! At one stop, it must have been the chipmunk hangout, the chipmunks came right up to Dan and Taylor. One even chased Trent because it thought he had food. Everyone was feeding them! We also had to stop several times for elk and mule deer crossing the roads.

Once we were back down, we went to Bear Lake before we left. That place was absolutely breathtaking. There we many trails to hike and and a great trail around the lake. I would love to camp there. Although, the Black Bear would always be in the back of my mind;-)

This was by far my favorite day of the trip!

Pikes Peak, Denver, Co

We went to Pike's Peak the last Sunday we were in Colorado. We stopped and shopped in a little town before boarding the train that took us up the mountain. The train was actually a cog railway system and the whole way up was set at a 25% incline! It took about an hour and a half going up and the same coming back. It was very cool once we reached the top. We did enjoy donuts and hot chocolate:-) Because of such thin air at the elevation of 14,110 feet, it was very hard to catch your breath! It was really neat to enjoy the view and actually look DOWN to see the clouds. Definitely something to see at least once in your life.

Taylor's 1st Plane Ride

This picture was before we took off, and should have warned me how the trip was gonna go!!
Unpacking the most important things;-)

So Dan is in Colorado for work and we decided to fly out and see him. First of all, huge thanks to Amanda for the suitcase and Chrissy for the ride to the airport. You girls saved me some cash so I didn't have to park or buy another large suitcase.

Overall, the ride out could have been worse. I thought Taylor would take her bottle when we took off (whole reason for a late flight), and sleep the whole time. But she had other plans. She stood on my lap the whole time and played peek-a-boo with the people behind us through the seats. THANK GOD everyone around us must have been parents themselves, and thought she was just adorable.

She ended up taking 15 ounces of formula in 2 hours and 30 minutes. I thought for sure she was gonna have one of those "massive explosions" that only happens when you can't get them to a bathroom or didn't bring extra clothes. It was kinda funny that she fell asleep 2 times, for exactly 10 minutes, then woke up with the biggest smile ready to go for another round. She had 2 breakdowns that only lasted maybe 1 minute, when I would try and get her to sit.

Trent, of course, just played his game and screamed once, telling Taylor to SHUT UP!! Once he was looking out the window and said, "Hey mom, look at that airplane!" There is something about being in the air and looking out the window to see another plane fly by that is just weird!

We finally got there, and I swear it was like seeing Jesus with a light shining down on him when I saw Dan!!! LOL I was never so glad to see my husband.

Let's Bowl

I took Trent bowling for the first time this morning! He was so excited when I told him. We met some friends from our moms group and had a very nice time. Good thing they didn't ask for contact information because I am sure that floor is now dented!!

First Soccer Practice

We went to Trent's first soccer practice tonight! Oh I was such a proud momma!!! He did block a ball from going in, and only knocked down kids 2 times! LOL. GOOD NEWS.... the other kids are a bit more rough so it was all okay. LOL.

He thought he was such a big guy because he got his own gatorade bottle. It was so stinkin' cute. I told me before we left that I could not clap big, just little, and he kept a check on me the whole time too.

staying cool

Just a few pics of the kiddo's staying cool! It has been so hot that all we can do outside is play with water! Trent also learned to swim while he was at nannie's house, so now he is like a little fish!

GREEN THUMB!!

When we moved into our new house in the Spring, we started to spend alot of time at Lowes! And when you take Trent into ANY store, he "needs" something. So on this trip he needed a sunflower kit. I thought to myself, "what a waste of money this is. We will go home, plant these seeds and he will forget about them." WRONG!!!!!! He was so excited so we went straight home and planted them. It took a while for anything to happen and to be honest I didn't take pictures of the progress because I didn't think they would make it! So, every day, Trent would look at the seeds and we would talk to them, and finally we were able to plant them in the ground. Well, exactly 3 months and 5 days later............. we got a bloom!!! We went to stay with my mom for the weekend, and came home and they are all in full bloom. So, way to go TRENT!!!!
